So Soon....

I know I said the next time I updated would be from France, but that is a lie. For I have not left the United States yet. I just felt the need to have a real pre-departure blog post! I'm hoping it'll settle my nerves a bit...

And nerves I have!! I have had those butterflies in my stomach for about the last hour or two. Watched some Jay Leno to ease them, as well as Emma on one of the movie channels, but the butterflies are still there. I don't know why I'm so nervous...then again, I guess going to a foreign country all on your own with no parents or no friends can be a bit overwhelming. It's not like it's the first time I've traveled without my parents...went to Italy and Greece with a school group in high school...still adults...went to Washington DC by myself, but...that was in America...not a foreign country where I didn't fluently speak the language.

I think that's one of my biggest worries...the fact that my French is awful. Even with 2 years of high school French (mind you that was over 5 years ago now...) and some Rosetta Stone, I still fear I can't hold a conversation in French except to ask how old someone is...OK, so the point of the program is to learn the language and the culture, but still...that starts Monday and I have to actually get there in order to learn French...hopefully I'll be fine. I bet I'll be fine. :-) ......

And see now I'm just rambling. It's what I do when I'm really nervous. I just talk about anything that jumps in my head. Oh well.

I'm packed!! All I need is an adapter (have the converters, realized at about 10 tonight I don't have any adapters...oops...luckily my flight leaves late enough that I have time to run to RadioShack and take care of that!) and an umbrella (must ask Mom for that one...left mine in Norman...oops again). Packing always makes it more exciting, picturing myself walking through the streets of Vichy wearing my cute jacket and scarf, with my new TOMS shoes...ah, lovely. :-) I'm proud of myself for only purchasing socks for this trip...usually I convince myself new clothes are a must, but I refrained. *Pats on the back there*

OK, I really am just rambling. I need to get to finish these information sheets for me and my parents and get to bed! Looooooooooong day ahead of me! But this time tomorrow I will be on a plane somewhere over the Atlantic!! YAY!! (And icks...I try not to think about flying over the water part...always kinda gets to me...I'm slightly paranoid...)

By the way, although my phone works internationally, be advised I get charged $.99 per minute for calls, it costs $.50 to send a text message, and $.30 just to receive a text message. So facebook and email are probably going to be ya'lls best bets in contacting me! Unless of course you just miss me so incredibly much you can't stand to wait for a facebook response and must call/text immediately. Also be wary of the time difference...2am phone calls are never very much appreciated, even when I'm home. ;-)

Au revoir! Beaucoup d'amour! (ok I did translate "much love" into French...I told you I wasn't very good....lol)

Peace, Love, and Bon Voyage!

The Countdown is Underway

I decided to create a separate blog for my upcoming travels. I'll be heading to Vichy, France on Saturday, and will be there for an entire month. I may try to hit up some cool places in Europe on the weekends. We'll see how this goes. The blog thing I mean... :-)

So stay tuned, for the next time I update I will be in France! Until then...
